Classes at The University of North Texas are back in session and that means our residents have been making their way back to Denton, TX for another great semester here at The Retreat at Denton. While we hope everyone had an amazing holiday break, we were excited to help kick off UNT Spring 2022 the right way with a variety of residence life events!
On Monday, January 17th, we started off our Welcome Back Week with MLK Day of Service in our Clubhouse. During the entire week, we had a donation area set up that way residents could give back to the community by donating their new or gently used clothing. During the duration of the week, we had about 15 outfits donated!
Day two of Welcome Back Week, we held Breakfast on the Go in our Clubhouse kitchen. We had over 40 people stop by bright and early to come and get their free Chick-Fil-A minis plate. Residents loved being able to receive breakfast on their way back to UNT for the first day of the spring semester. We loved seeing our residents early in the morning!
On Wednesday, we held To-Go Spa bags in Clubhouse! We had 30 residents ready to relax and kick back in the comfort of their homes. With the spike of COVID-19 cases, we weren’t able to host 10-minute massages, but our residents loved their bags! From coconut oil Chapstick to fuzzy socks and foot peel masks, residents had all the necessities for a chill night in.
For day four, we held Grocery Bingo in our Clubhouse and this was a HIT! Over 15 residents showed up ready to play three rounds of Grocery Bingo in hopes of winning a take-home basket. The baskets included many different essentials such as Trash bags, Tide pods, Pasta and sauce, Lysol, Masks, and more! During the event, we were able to joke around and make our residents smile B-4 (get it?) the event was over!
Our very last event of Welcome Back Week, we held Free Popcorn Friday in Clubhouse. This is a weekly popcorn event to connect with our residents and let them know what’s poppin’ around our community! This event was special because we got to talk about renewal rates, their fall semester experience, and more. Our residents look forward to getting a free treat every Friday!
It was an awesome week getting our residents geared up for a successful semester at The University of North Texas! We love having the opportunity to provide a best-in-class, UNT off-campus housing experience to our residents, and hosting a variety of engaging events is just one of the many ways we strive to accomplish that.
